A Paradigm Shift is Occurring - Think Printing Press

3D printing is truly revolutionary.  It will fundamentally change how things are created, from parts on jet engines parts to chocolate (yes, both are happening today).  Even if the finished product is made with traditional methods, it will likely be modeled and prototyped with a 3D printer.

Design - Make it Your Own

Unless you are very skilled and have the tools, the common person has not been able to make the "things" - until now.

There are now easy-to-use and free products that you can use to create your own designs.  You can even draw a picture and create a 3D model from your own picture.

Printing is only one side of the coin.  The real power is the idea creation or modifying someone else's idea.

3D Printers

There are 3D printers that print plastic. Others print in metal.  Still others lay down chocolate.  There are printers that can print a wall in concrete.  There are other than are printers using Kevlar (yes, the bullet proof material) and carbon fiber.

The 3D Printers we will be using print in plastic, either PLA or ABS.

Things We Will Make

Each day of TechCamp will include hands on design time where each creator will create their own custom project which will be 3D printed.

For example:

  • 3D object created from their own drawing
  • Custom 3"x5" picture frame
  • Custom name plate.
